Judiciary welcomes yet another young, vibrant Attorney – Dovini Chell, 25, called to the bar today!

By BBN Staff: In a one-hour ceremony this morning, Orange Walk resident, 25-year-old Dovini Chell took the oath as she was called to the bar before the Acting Chief Justice, Madam Michelle Arana in the Belize Supreme Court.

The motion to have her called to the bar was brought by Senior Counsel, Attorney Derek Courtenay.

Chell as a teenager graduated from the Louisiana Government School and then went on to Bishop Martin High School, in Orange Walk Town. After completing High School she pursued an Associate’s Degree in Law and Sociology at Muffle’s Junior College in 2016 and then went on to the University of the West Indies.

Chell graduated from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, with a Bachelor of Laws (Upper Second Class honors) in 2019. After Cave Hill, Chell went on to further her studies in Jamaica where she graduated with her Legal Education Certificate in 2021 from the Norman Manley Law School and won the H. Aubrey Frazer memorial prize for the best performance in Ethics, Rights and Obligations of the Legal Profession.

Dovini Chell is the youngest of three children and the daughter of proud parents, Leonardo Chell and Judith Chell-Constanza. Her oldest sister is Shanidi Chell, who was called to the Bar on February 26, 2016 and who is employed as a Crown Counsel at the DPP’s Office in Belize City. Her brother, Andrei Chell, is pursuing a doctorate in Public Health at the School of Public Health at the University of Albany, New York, and completes a cadre of achievers in the family.

Following in the footsteps of her eldest sibling, Dovini Chell is also employed at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions as a Crown Counsel.
