By Aaron Humes: Unlike previous confirmation exercises where the qualifications and bonafides of members of the Integrity Commission were openly questioned, there was unanimity in the selections of attorney Andrea McSweaney-McKoy as chair and Katherine Meighan, Zoe Roberson Zetina, Ricardo Moguel, George R. Swift, Payal Ghanwani and Jaraad Ysaguirre as members.
McSweaney-McKoy was recommended by the Prime Minister after consultation with and agreement by the Leader of the Opposition, while Meighan, Roberson, Moguel, and Swift were recommended after consultation, and Ghanwani and Ysaguirre, the Opposition’s choices, were recommended with the concurrence of the Leader of the Opposition.
The group will serve for a two-year period retroactive to April 1, 2022, and shall have responsibility for reviewing the records of those public officials to whom the Prevention of Corruption in Public Life Act applies, including members of the House, Senate and municipal councils.
