By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) in collaboration with the University of Belize and MAR fund will be holding a tourism summit this week under the theme “Reimagining Belizean Tourism- Where are we going and how do we get there.”
The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 26, at the Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Topics of discussion on the summit’s agenda include: • Preparing for Climate Change: Is Beach Tourism an Endangered Species?; Belize City Cruise Ports: How Many is Too Many?; Branding Belizean Tourism for Resilience; Airport and Land Borders: Short and Long Term Solutions; Looking Ahead: What is the Goal and How Do We Get There?
The keynote speaker at the summit will be Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, former Minister of Tourism of the Bahamas. The summit will also have Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations Anthony Mahler as a guest panelist.
