By Benjamin Flowers: Thirty-four-year-old Wendy Mendez is still clinging to life after a brutal chopping on Sunday afternoon.
Mendez was chopped to the face in the same incident that claimed the life of her cousin, 47-year-old Juan Arturo Mendez, in Concepcion Village, Corozal District.
Police say that the incident happened at Juan Mendez’s home after he had told a guest staying in his home to leave. The person refused and during a subsequent argument he chopped Juan Mendez several times with a machete; one of those chop wounds was to the neck. Juan Mendez died on the spot.
Head of Communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Fitzroy Yearwood said that the man believed to be responsible for the incident is in police custody and is expected to be charged soon.
