COVID update: Belize ticks up toward 1,000 active cases

By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Health and Wellness reports 132 new cases of COVID-19 today against 57 new recoveries.

There are now 958 active cases of COVID-19 with a further 228 samples under investigation.

Nine persons remain hospitalized with symptoms of the virus but no new deaths have been reported.

A whopping 78 new cases were reported in Belize City alone, of 90 in mainland Belize District with another three in San Pedro Town.

Cayo tallied 16 new cases including five in Belmopan, three in Benque Viejo and two between San Ignacio and Santa Elena Towns.

Orange Walk Town added five of the nine new cases in the northern districts, while of the 14 total new cases in the south, four each were in Hopkins and Independence and three in Punta Gorda Town.
