“All are invited to the 3rd Annual Belizean West-African Cultural Heritage Explosion which will be celebrated under the theme “Inculcating the Culture of generosity” at the Belmopan Civic Center on Wednesday 25th May, from 11 am to 3 pm. Come and appreciate our African roots and the connection between our peoples,” said the Belmopan City Council.
A post on social media by the Belmopan Mayor Sheran Palacio says the third Africa Day celebration is sponsored by NICH, African Cities Development Consult, BelAflika Travel & Tours, and the Belmopan City Council.
“We will be honoured with representatives from the Diplomatic Community along with young minds from Primary and high schools accompanied by their Teachers amongst others,” said Mayor Palacio.
“Our guest speaker is Venezuelan Ambassador [Gerardo Argote]! Historian Dr. Ludwig Palacio will set the stage! Our highlight will be a Cultural Food Expo showcasing Belizean and African Foods.”
Mayor Palacio will give welcome remarks during the ceremony.
Palacio also said that the She4She Champions project will be showcased by Queen Jadore who will be sharing her WOMEN Soap-making entrepreneurial project. That programme targets Belizean Women across all nine municipalities.
The Africa Day ceremonies will feature dances from Senegal, Nigeria, and Belize.
