By Zoila Palma Gonzales: Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams has issued a statement expressing solidarity with the Texas community following the massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
” Other than at home, a school should be the safest environment for a child. When we send our children to school we do so believing that they are going to return home safely to us. If not at school, where else can our children be safe? It is a sad moment when we have to hear of children being killed while learning and preparing themselves for life,” Williams stated.
Williams said that mass shootings at schools are “sickening” and something needs to be done to stop them and keep children safe at school.
“Together let us stand in solidarity with the parents and the Texas community that is affected by this latest cruel act,” Williams asserted.
Authorities have now confirmed that the gunman, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos shot and killed 21 people including 19 children and 2 teachers.
