By BBN Staff: John Saldivar, who enjoyed a brief stint as Leader of the United Democratic Party, has spoken up against attacks being made against currently Party Leader Shyne Barrow, by an aggrieved former member of the UDP Central Executive, Delroy Cuthkelvin.
Since Barrow became party leader at the leadership convention held in March, Cuthkelvin has been on a social media campaign criticizing his leadership. Cuthkelvin has made several videos accusing Barrow of being dishonest to the party and to the people, one of which was later supported by ousted Party Leader Patrick Faber.
Saldivar, however, took to Facebook in Barrow’s defense, acknowledging his leadership and calling on Cuthkelvin to cease his attacks.
“What you are doing to our Party by attacking our Leader can never be justified by anything that was done to you or not done for you in the past. Removing you from Central had to be expected because you were vicious against the man,” Saldivar said.
Saldivar also implied that much of Cuthkelvin’s animosity is rooted in issues that he had with Barrow’s father, former party leader Dean Barrow, but that harboring such feelings and attacking the current party leader because of them were not good for the party.
“Stop being selfish. Stop thinking only about you and your hurt. Everybody hurts, sometimes,” Saldivar added.
He stressed that Cutkelvin’s actions have put a strain on their friendship, a strain that he does not believe their friendship can survive.
