Ministry of Health and Wellness: Covid-19 cases pass 1,000 but hospitalizations down

By Aaron Humes: The latest data on COVID-19 from the Ministry of Health and Wellness puts the number of active COVID-19 cases at 1,030 with a further 246 samples under investigation.

124 new cases were reported over the last 24 hours against 52 persons recovered.

Overall, Belize stands at 58,873 total confirmed cases of which 97 percent have recovered, 11 percent are presently infected and 677 are dead.

The number of hospitalizations is down from nine to six, three of those having had at least two vaccination shots.

Belize City reported 58 of 79 new cases in the mainland Belize District with another three in San Pedro Town.

Cayo District added 21 new cases, nine of which were in the Belmopan area; six in San Ignacio/Santa Elena, and two in Benque Viejo.

The northern districts together reported 11 new cases and the southern districts 10.
