By Rubén Morales Iglesias: All Saints School in Belize City is going back to virtual classes for a week due to COVID-19.
In a letter to parents of two classes at the levels of Standard VI and I, Principal Collin Estrada said that several students tested positive for COVID-19, and to mitigate the situation those two classes would be reverting to distance education for the period from May 30 to June 2.
Estrada also advised parents that if their children show any symptoms of the disease, to get tested.
The cases at All Saints come as the country is seeing a spike which has driven the total numbers to over 1,000.
Just two days ago, Director of Health and Wellness Dr. Melissa Diaz-Musa told the 75th World Health Assembly that Belize is now in its 5th COVID-19 wave.
The cases at All Saints also come just before the Ministry of Health and Wellness prepares to roll out the COVID-19 vaccination of 73,000 children from five to 11 years of age.
