By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Sixteen players of the Belize Men’s National Football Team reported to the FFB Headquarters in Belmopan on Wednesday afternoon and are now training in preparation for the Concacaf Nations League games in June.

The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) said earlier that coach David Pérez had called 22 players from the Belize Men’s National Team’s (BMNT) pool to report to camp on Wednesday, May 25, for four upcoming Concacaf National League games. The five foreign-based players will report later.

From Wednesday, they are training daily until their four games against the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and French Guiana (twice) in Group D of the Concacaf League B are over. The BMNT has two training sessions daily. The first starts at 6:30 am and the second at 4:00 pm. On Sunday, they’ll play a friendly against CAR from Cancun, Mexico.

The first match in the Concacaf Nations League is next Thursday, June 2, against the Dominican Republic at 4:00 pm at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.

Right after that game, the BMNT will travel to Guatemala on Friday, June 3, to face the Guatemala National Team at 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 5. The match will be played at the Doroteo Guamuch Flores Stadium in Guatemala City.

The BMNT will return from Guatemala on Monday, June 6, to prepare for the third game on Thursday, June 9 against French Guiana. The match is scheduled for 4:00 pm at the FFB Stadium.

The BMNT will then travel to French Guiana on Saturday, June 11 and will arrive on Monday, June 13, for the final match this year against French Guiana on Tuesday, June 14. The game will be played at the Dr. Edmard Lama Municipal Stadium in Cayenne.

The BMNT then leaves French Guiana on Wednesday, June 15, to arrive here on Friday, June 17.

The remaining two matches in the Concacaf Nations League are scheduled for March 2023. Belize will host Guatemala at 4:00 pm at the FFB Stadium on Friday, March 24, 2023, before travelling to take on the Dominican Republic on Monday, March 27 at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo.

The 22 selected players are:

Goalkeepers: Earl Dyck, Charles Tillett, and Isaac Castillo.

Defenders: Everal Trapp, Collin Westby, Donnel Arzu, Asrel Sutherland, Norman Anderson, and Jose Urbina.

Midfielders: Luis Torres, Warren Moss, Darrel Myvett, Tony Rocha, Nana Yaw Mensah, Angelo Capello, Eldon Reneau, and Jovaunn Ramos.

Forwards: Deon McCaulay, Krisean Lopez, Horace Avila, Carlos Bernardez, and Jesse August.

The head coach is David Pérez from Spain.

Foreign-based Rocha, Mensah, Capello, McCaulay, and Bernardez should be joining the BMNT later.

Incidentally, Denmark Casey Jr who was in the initial call up was substituted by Luis Torres due to injury, said FFB sources.
