Director General of Mexico’s National Agriculture Dr. Luis Angel Rodriguez del Bosque is the guest speaker at National Agriculture & Trade Show opening today

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Director General of Mexico’s National Agriculture Institute for Forestry, Agricultural, and Livestock Research (INIFAP) Dr. Luis Angel Rodriguez del Bosque will be the guest speaker at the National Agriculture & Trade Show (NATS) 2022 opening on Friday.

The Mexican official was invited as Belize and Mexico strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in the field of agriculture. In his recent visit here, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced the lifting of tariffs on Belize’s agricultural products including livestock.

The opening ceremony on the Main Stage at the NATS Showgrounds in Belmopan, directed by Mistress of Ceremonies Gwen Nuñez Gonzalez, starts at 3:00 pm with the Inspection of the Guard of Honour by Governor General Dame Froyla Tzalam.

The Invocation will be done by Reverend Lizbeth Tulloch of Belmopan’s St. Ann’s Anglican Church.

Belmopan Mayor Sheran Palacio will then deliver the Welcome Address.

An artistic dance presentation by the Maya Náay Group will follow.

Then at 3:20 pm, the INIFAP Director Dr. Luis Angel Rodríguez del Bosque will deliver the main address.

At 3:30 pm, Prime Minister John Briceño, Minister of Finance, Economic Development, & Investment will give his remarks.

The Prime Minister’s speech will be followed by the sashing of the Farmers of the Year at 3:40 pm. The Men’s Farmer of the Year is Orlando Ek from the Corozal District, the Women’s Farmer of the Year is Norma Figueroa from the Cayo District, and the Junior Farmer of the Year is Darwin Orellana from the Belize District.

Bredda David Obi & Friends will then do a musical rendition of his song ‘Belizean Products’.

Bredda David’s presentation will be followed by remarks by Jose Abelardo Mai, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise at 3:55 pm.

Next the Maya Náay Dance Group will make another dance presentation before the Ministry of Agriculture Chief Executive Officer Servulo Baeza gives the vote of thanks.

The ceremony should finish by 4:15 pm when the National Agriculture & Trade Show 2022 officially starts and runs until Sunday evening.
