Gates are already open at National Agriculture and Trade; no charge on Friday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Though the National Agriculture and Trade Show (NATS) doesn’t officially start until 4:15 after the Opening Ceremony at 3:00 pm, the gates at the showgrounds in Belmopan have been open since 5:30 this morning.

“There’s no charging on Friday, access is open,” said NATS Committee Chairman Gary Ramirez.

“On Saturday and Sunday, our gates open at 5:30 am for booth vendors and the general public. This is because the electronic companies who would be already set up from Friday offer early deals.”

The entrance fee on Saturday and Sunday is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children. Parking costs $8.00.

The Farmers of the Year will be presented at the Opening Ceremony today. The Men’s Farmer of the Year is Orlando Ek from the Corozal District. The Women’s Farmer of the Year is Norma Figueroa from the Cayo District. And the Junior Farmer of the Year is Darwin Orellana from the Belize District.

The Livestock Show, the Canoe Race, the NATS 2022 Award, the Youth Rodeo Championship, and the ASR/ BSI Strong Man Competition are all featured on Saturday.

Then on Sunday, there’s the Horse and Cowboy Parade and the Senior Rodeo Competition.

Apart from that, there’s entertainment on the Main Stage and the Creekside Stage on both days.

Gates close at 6:00 pm on Sunday.
