Jacky’s Bakery owner fined for employing 10 immigrants without work permits

By Aaron Humes: The owner of Jacky’s Bakery at Mile 8, George Price Highway is out of more than 10 thousand dollars after authorities caught her employing persons who did not have an employment permit.

Ruihuan He, 52, apologized before Magistrate Kara Walters as she pleaded guilty to ten counts of the charge. Her husband was recently murdered and she says the business has been experiencing financial constraints.

The ten immigrants were identified as Mario Antonio Martinez-Martinez, Franklin Blademir Calderon Amaya, Juan Rocael Vargas Hernandez, Elfredo Alexander Ramirez, Pascual Ramirez-Hernandez, Nelson Alexander Gomez Lopez, Mirna Cecilia Segura Medina, Ervin Darco Mendez Paloma, Daniel Eliseo Gonzalez Bernal and Efrain Alexander Beltran Agueta.

Ruihuan He was fined one thousand dollars on each count plus the cost of court, to be paid by December 30, 2022, in default six months’ imprisonment.

As for the employees, Gomez Lopez, 21, a Guatemalan, was charged with one count of failure to present himself forthwith to a place of arrival. He pleaded guilty and was fined $1,000 plus the cost of a court fine and ordered to pay forthwith, in default, six months imprisonment.

The remaining immigrants, 5 Salvadorans, and 4 Guatemalans were issued an order to leave the country on their own without being charged since they cooperated with the authorities.
