Belize Weather: Agatha influence brings rainy start to week

Weather conditions will continue moist and unstable for the next few days according to the National Meteorological Service.

Skies today will be cloudy at times with a few showers, periods of rain and isolated thunderstorms mostly over northern areas this morning, then mainly inland this afternoon. Tonight will be cloudy with several outbreaks of heavy showers and thunderstorms over most areas.

High temperatures are 84 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast; 88 degrees in inland areas and 78 degrees in the hills. Tonight’s low temperatures are 77 degrees along the coast; 73 degrees in the interior and 68 degrees in the hills.

Winds are easterly to southeasterly at 10 to 20 knots. The sea will be choppy to moderate with waves of three to six feet.

A small craft caution remains in effect for gusty winds and rough seas near heavy showers or thunderstorms. A flood watch remains in effect for the possibility of localized flooding over low-lying and flood prone areas across the country.

Tides will be high at 9:18 this morning and 11 p.m. tonight and low at 4:51 this afternoon. The sun will set at 6:23 this evening and rise at 5:17 Tuesday morning.

The outlook is for some showers and thunderstorms especially over northern and central areas Tuesday morning, then a few showers and isolated thunderstorms mostly inland Tuesday afternoon. Cloudiness, showers and thunderstorms will increase across the country Tuesday night.
