Major Taiwanese seafood company expresses interest to import seafood from Belize

By Hugh O’Brien: One of the largest seafood importers in Taiwan, YEN & Brothers Enterprise CO., LTD., was recently in Belize and met with major seafood exporters with a view to buy seafood from Belize.

The company was in Belize from May 25 to May 27 and visited with local producers of white farmed shrimp, Tilapia and lobster. The representative from YEN & Brothers Enterprise CO., LTD., Dana Tseng, met with Alvin Henderson of the Belize Shrimp Growers Association in Independence Village and discussed future cooperation with the local growers of white farmed shrimp.

She also met with with representatives from Northern Fishermen Co-operative Society Ltd. in Belize City to exchange views on lobster trade between Taiwan and Belize.

Discussions between the Taiwan company and Fein Catch Ltd. of La Democracia Village were also held to look at the prospects of trade between the two companies.

The sessions between the Taiwan company and local exporters were coordinated by the the Embassy of Taiwan in Belize. In a social media post the Embassy said it “will continue to bridge Taiwanese and Belizean companies to interact and communicate, and hence promote the economic ties between our two countries. We look forward to seeing more and more tasty Belizean seafood to be exported to Taiwanese customers.”
