Ministry of Health and Wellness celebrating World No Tobacco Day  under the theme “ Tobacco, a threat to our environment ”

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Ministry of Health and Wellness joins the world in commemorating World No Tobacco Day on May 31, 2022.

The day is being observed under the theme, “Tobacco, a threat to our environment.”

District offices will be conducting health information booth displays in public spaces across the country.

The public is encouraged to visit the booths and learn about the harmful effects of tobacco use and also the direct negative link it has to our environment and health.

The World Health Organization (WHO) notes that throughout its lifecycle, tobacco pollutes the planet and damages the health of all.

WHO notes that Tobacco kills over 8 million people every year and destroys our environment, further harming human health, through the cultivation, production, distribution, consumption, and post-consumer waste.
