Santa Elena mechanic Harold Mutrie and accomplice charged for shooting 26-year-old baker after argument over a woman.

By BBN Staff: Thirty eight year old Harold Domacio Mutrie, a mechanic residing in Santa Elena, Cayo District, was formally arrested and charged by Police on Monday, May 30,  2022. Mutrie was charged for wantonly discharging a firearm in public, attempted murder, dangerous harm and the use of deadly means of harm.

Police also arrested and charged 33-year-old Jose Antonio Penados with abetment to commit murder. Penados, a resident of Succotz Village, Cayo District, is also a mechanic and is alleged to have handed a gun to Mutrie, with which Mutrie is accused to have committed the shooting with.

The charges levied on both men are in relation to a shooting that occurred around 1:30 am on Saturday, May 28th in which 26 year old George Requena was injured and had to be rushed to the San Ignacio Hospital.

Police investigations reveal that in the wee hours of Saturday morning, George Requena was socializing in downtown San Ignacio along with some family members and friends when he was approached by Mutrie. An argument ensued between the two (2) men as the Mutrie believes that Requena is having a relationship with his ex-wife, who was also along with Requena at the time. 

The incident occurred in front of a popular nightclub on Hudson Street in downtown San Ignacio.
