By Aaron Humes: Shawn Humes, 22, and Selvin Waight, 23, both of Wagner’s Lane, Belize City, have been arraigned for the armed robbery of Midtown Grocery Store on Albert Street on Saturday.
Police say two of three men held up store owner Jaheed Amid Jahni for the sum of $1,050 while a third still to be apprehended acted as a lookout.
But the robbery was apparently captured on a surveillance camera from the business and police used it to track down two of the three accused robbers.
The men appeared separately in court despite being charged for the same offense: Humes this morning before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson and Waight this afternoon before Magistrate Baja Shoman.
Both men pleaded not guilty to the charge, and due to the nature of the offense, bail was denied, and they were remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until July 25, 2022.
