Guatemala pulls out of the Under 15 Central American Football Championship, Belize will only have two opponents in group stage

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Guatemala pulled out of the Central American Football Union (UNCAF) FIFA FORWARD U15 Girls Championship on Tuesday. The U15 Belize Girls National Team (BGNT) will now only have two opponents in the group stage of the regional championship to be held in San Jose, Costa Rica, from Sunday, June 5, to Saturday, June 11, 2022.

With Guatemala out, Group B is now comprised of Belize, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic,

The U15 BGNT will not play on Sunday and will not have their first game until Tuesday, June 7, against El Salvador at 4:00 pm at the José Joaquín ‘Coyella’ Fonseca Stadium where the group will play its games. Belize’s second game will be against the Dominican Republic on Thursday, June 9, at 4:00 pm.

Group A consists of hosts Costa Rica, Nicaragua, invited guests Puerto Rico, and Honduras. Since Guatemala pulled out, this group will also play at the José Joaquín ‘Coyella’ Fonseca Stadium. The Ernesto Rohrmoser Stadium will not be used.

The Under 15 Belize Girls National Team is travelling to Costa Rica on Thursday via Guatemala. The team will arrive in San Jose on Friday.
