Moist and unstable conditions prevail over Belize; remnants of Agatha moves toward Florida

Posted: Wednesday, June 1, 2022. 10:57 pm CST.

By Hugh O’Brien: The National Meteorological Service of Belize, in its 6:00 pm weather forecast, says that showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Belize. Gusty winds along with moderate to heavy showers are expected during the night.

Tonight will continue to be cloudy with a few showers and thunderstorms over most areas, but developing mostly over the mainland early and then along the coast later in the night.

Thursday is expected to be sunny with cloudy spells. A few showers and thunderstorms will occur mostly inland during the latter part of the day.

Towards the weekend, local weather is expected to be less affected by the remnants of Hurricane Agatha, which made landfall in western Mexico on Monday, and is projected to move away from our area.

While Agatha has dissipated over Mexico, the moisture associated with the storm is still on the move, and is heading towards Florida. This system could become our first tropical depression or tropical storm of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season.
