Commissioner of Police represents Belize at Interpol Conference in France

By BBN Staff: Last week, Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams represented Belize at the Interpol conference held in France.

The 6th meeting of the Interpol Governance Working Group brings law enforcement leaders from each region to share recommendations on improving Interpol’s constitution.

During a media interview, Williams said that during the conference, law enforcement leaders discussed international law and laws that govern different countries that are administered by INTERPOL.

Several recommendations were made that will now be taken to INTERPOL’s General Assembly, the commissioner said.

The General Assembly is INTERPOL’s supreme governing body, comprising representatives from each of the member countries.

It meets once a year and each session lasts around four days. Each member country may be represented by one or several delegates who are typically chiefs of police or senior ministry officials.
