Ex-City Councilor and DJ claims politics behind Agric weekend dance issues

Posted: Thursday, June 2, 2022. 5:27 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Former Belmopan City Councilor and disc jockey Isidoro “Richie” Galvez says they didn’t succeed, but he is sure politicians were behind efforts to stall a dance event at the One Million Club in the new capital.

In a social media post, Galvez claims the regional liquor license board apparently changed its mind on an extension set for 3 a.m., allegedly tracking down the owner and canceling the extension so that the dance would end around midnight.

Former area representative and mentor of Galvez, John Saldivar, also weighed in, saying that the arbitrary removal of the liquor license extension and alleged threats and intimidation signal a dangerous precedent and pointed fingers at who he thinks is responsible.

Neither detail precisely what led to the cancellation although from their writings they appear to believe it is solely a political motive. We will continue to follow the story.
