By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Los Angeles Lakers star and 2-time Olympic gold medalist, Lebron James’ net worth is at $1 billion, Forbes reports.

James is the first active NBA player to reach the status. Forbes estimated James earned $121.2 million last year.

During a 2014 interview, James said that if it happened, it would be his biggest milestone.

“Obviously. I want to maximize my business. And if I happen to get it, if I happen to be a billion-dollar athlete, ho. Hip hip hooray! Oh, my God, I’m gonna be excited,” he stated.

In addition to earning $400 million in salary during his NBA career, Forbes said that James brought in over $900 million from business investments.

These include Spring Hill Company, an umbrella group that includes his Uninterrupted and SpringHill Entertainment; Fenway Sports Group; an $80 million real estate portfolio; and Blaze Pizza.

James has also opened a school in his hometown, Akron, Ohio, and is planning a housing and community center to assist families in that community.

James has won 4 NBA championships, been named league MVP 4 times, and been selected to 18 All-Star teams.
