By Aaron Humes: “Political pressure” on the Board of Julian Cho Technical High School has been blamed for Leader of the Opposition Moses “Shyne” Barrow’s missed opportunity to address its graduating class.
Barrow told reporters this afternoon that in his understanding, he topped the student poll for guest speakers ahead of even Governor-General Froyla Tzalam, whom students selected in a subsequent poll after his name was taken off the list.
Barrow said he had been asked to speak at schools in Corozal and Stann Creek Districts as well as at Anglican Cathedral College (ACC) in the City, the last of which he has yet to respond to.
He says the students want to hear him speak because of his performance in the House and also because he represents what he called the belief of young people that they can do anything and that their past lives and mistakes do not define them for all time.
