By Aaron Humes: Belize wants the world to know it is back and open for business, Minister of Education and Culture Francis Fonseca has said in support of his colleague Minister of Tourism Anthony Mahler during today’s meeting of the House of Representatives.
He was responding to the suggestion of waste of three-quarters of a million dollars by Albert area representative Tracey Taegar-Panton on the adjournment.
Unlike the UDPs efforts, most notably the 2016 BTL Park concert hosted by the-then Belize City Council, Fonseca said, there will be a “full, comprehensive report” on the monies spent and the returns to the economy, which in San Pedro Town alone is estimated to be $3 million, according to Fonseca.
The Belize Tourism Board (BTB), meanwhile, has announced that Koffee, the Grammy-winning performing artist, will be the headliner on the first day of the festival on July 30 at the Saca Chispas Field.
The other leading international artists on day one of the line-up include Timaya, Demarco, and Barrington Levy.
From the Jewel, the line-up includes Stig Di Artist, J. Cas, Papa John, King Rome, Denise Castillo, Britney Starr, Yas Thalia, Don Doe, Dajah, and Den Z.
Featured DJs include Fyah Statah Sound, DJ Smallz, DJ Dev, DJ Fingaz, Young Generals, Tagg International, and Evolution Sound.
