By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Fifty people who were attending mass on Sunday at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Nigeria were shot and killed during an attack

Media reports indicate that gunmen attacked the church and shot people outside and inside killing 50 and injuring many others.

Nigerian authorities say that the incident is ‘a great massacre’ that should never happen again. Authorities are still investigating the identity of the culprits and the motive of the attack.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari condemned the attack, calling it “heinous”.
