Attempted child abduction at Plaza las Americas, Chetumal

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Media reports in Chetumal indicate that on June 3, a man attempted to kidnap a minor from Plaza las Americas in Chetumal. 

The mother says that she was looking at some clothes when she realized that her daughter was no longer near her. Police were called to the scene and the security guard say that he saw a man taking the minor. 

The child was later found in Chedraui located in the same vicinity. 

Police believe that after the suspect noted heavy police presence, he chose to abandon the child at the scene.

Plaza las Americas is a popular shopping place that many Belizeans visit in Chetumal.
