PUP claims 10 villages in round 4 of village council elections

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The People’s United Party (PUP) is claiming victory in 10 villages in week 4 of the village council elections held over the weekend.

On Sunday, June 5th, 16 villages held elections of which, 10 were won by PUP slates, 3 by UDP slates, and 3 by independent teams.

“The People’s United Party made major pick-ups in the villages of Ontario and Teakettle in Cayo South and San Narciso in Corozal South West,” a statement from the party said.

In addition, 24 villages had nominations on Sunday. Eleven of those will go uncontested – this will secure 10 endorsements, the PUP noted.

Meanwhile, 13 villages will go to elections on Sunday, June 12.
