By BBN Staff: A short while ago, the United Democratic Party issued a statement calling on the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, to honor his oath to uphold the Laws of Belize and immediately issue warrants for the arrest and charge of Julius Espat, a Minister of Government, and Pepes Garcia, spouse of a Minister of Government.
“A woman police officer visited the Roaring Creek Police Station on Sunday, June 5, and reported that Minister Julius Espat verbally and physically assaulted her in Teakettle in front of multiple witnesses. It has now been more than 48 hours since the report was filed and still no charges have been levied against Espat. To add insult to injury, the police officer assaulted by Julius Espat is now facing disciplinary action by Commissioner Williams while the alleged abuser has not even been approached by police, the UDP said in the statement.
The UDP further stated that on Friday, June 3, the spouse of Minister Dolores Balderamos Garcia, Pepes Garcia was involved in a road traffic accident on the Philip Goldson Highway and up to now, no police report was issued and no charges have been levied against him.
According to the UDP, the chair of the Commissioner of Police should be no seat for a political puppet auditioning to masters for an electoral run and indicated that the morale in the police department is at an all-time low.
