No arrests in Orange Walk murder of Reynaldo Marchand

By Aaron Humes: Two weeks after the fatal shooting of 38-year-old Reynaldo Marchand and his cousin, 31-year-old Nazir Vasquez, police continue to puzzle over who is responsible.

The two were socializing in front of Vasquez’s business place when a gunman and his accomplice arrived on a motorcycle. The shooter jumped off the bike, ambushed the men, and opened fire. Marchand passed away in what appeared to be a targeted execution attempt on Vasquez, who survived multiple gunshot injuries.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams noted that while there are lots of rumors as to what happened, the police can only deal with facts and evidence: “…we do have suspects in mind. We have brought in some persons for an interview, but we have not been able to ascertain definitively who is responsible. Again, the lack of evidence, and the lack of cooperation, is an issue. And so, the investigations just continue until we can perhaps get the evidence we need to be able to levy charges against any person.”
