Belizean in Canada wins prestigious Environmental Award

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Belizean Jesus de Leon who resides in Canada and works for the Royal Canadian Mint has been awarded the annual Environmental Award from his corporation.

De Leon says that the  Royal Canadian Mint works with chemicals and a chemical spill can damage the environment so there is intensive training on environmental safety.

“I was awarded the annual Environmental Award because they noticed that I am a proactive leader when it comes to preventing spills and looking for the safety of my coworkers. I’m very pleased to represent my country Belize also I dedicate this award to my kids and my new wife Karla Leonela Guerra from Benque and all my family in Corozal,” De Leon told BBN.

The Royal Canadian Mint is the Crown corporation responsible for the minting and distribution of Canada’s circulation coins.
