By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Project Coordinator Cathleen Juan and Mexican Ambassador Martha Zamarripa conducted a technical visit to three schools involved in the Amexcid/CARICOM/FAO School Feeding project on Thursday.

Amexcid is the Mexican International Agency for Cooperation and Development.

Staff from the Ministries of Agriculture and Education accompanied coordinator Juan and Ambassador Zamarripa on the visit.

“The sub-project on ‘Resilient school feeding programs’ aims to strengthen the capacities of institutions and stakeholders to implement resilient and sustainable National School Feeding Programs in Belize,” said the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise.

MAFSE said the Mexico-CARICOM-FAO Initiative began its implementation in October 2018.

The initiative’s objectives are to increase “the resilience of Caribbean countries to global systemic risks via the updating and/or design of public policy instruments that improve the livelihoods and well-being of families and communities, provide access to healthy food and the management of their natural resources by increasing adaptation and resilience to climate change,” said MAFSE.
