By Aaron Humes: Fire apparently claimed the life of 39-year-old Tessie Camal, originally from Corozal District, overnight on Fabers’ Road Extension, according to police.
Officers visited a wood-Plycem elevated residence found engulfed in flames early this morning around 1:00 a.m. After Fire Service officers put the fire out, they discovered the body of Camal face down in the bathroom.
According to Camal’s partner, Bruce Garbutt, he had gone to work at a hotel around 7:30 Saturday night, leaving Camal at home. He said he had tried to reach her, unsuccessfully, around 10 p.m.
The first hints of smoke came around 12:30 a.m. and neighbours found the structure in flames and called the Fire Service.
A post-mortem examination has been scheduled and Police and Fire personnel investigations continue.
