By BBN Staff: Police report that convicted thief, Aaron Chavez, who escaped police custody while being transferred to the Belize Central Prison last week, has been re-captured.
Chavez had been arraigned for the theft of a camera and related accessories and was remanded to prison last Thursday. On his way to prison, however, police reported that Chavez jumped out of the pan of the police pickup near Mile 8 on the George Price Highway.
He spent a few days on the run before being picked up by police. He was arraigned in court last Thursday and was denied bail and remanded until July 25. He now likely faces an additional charge for escaping police custody.
