By Aaron Humes: The number of new daily COVID-19 cases continues to rise even with the disease considered less problematic.
Some 287 new cases were reported countrywide over the weekend against 212 new recoveries, with no indication of whether Belize has reached the peak of the current wave.
Another 224 samples are under investigation.
Five persons are hospitalized, all at least double vaccinated. There were no new deaths reported.
Belize City added 105 new cases among the 130 in mainland Belize District with another 13 in San Pedro Town.
There were 29 cases in Belmopan proper and seven in the surrounding settlements as well as 16 in San Ignacio/Santa Elena.
Up north there were 27 total cases including eight in Orange Walk Town and four in Corozal Town, while southern districts added 43 new cases including 15 in Dangriga and six in Punta Gorda.
