‘Low-pressure system headed towards Nicaragua now has 30 percent chance of developing,’ Weather experts say

Posted: Monday, June 13, 2022. 11:24 am CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: The United States National Hurricane Center says that the low-pressure system which is headed towards the coast of Nicaragua now has a 30 percent chance of developing into something stronger.

The NHC’s latest update on the weather system this morning said that the system had a 30 percent chance of developing in the next five days, up from yesterday’s estimation of 20 percent; however, chances of development within the next two days remain nil.

“Some slow development of this system is possible thereafter while it drifts generally northwestward off the coasts of Nicaragua and Honduras,” the National Hurricane Center said Monday in its tropical weather outlook.

The system was identified on Sunday. Its presence in the region has caused some rainfall in Belize, however, the National Meteorological Service of Belize’s latest weather forecast, says that shower activity is expected to decrease later today, leading into tonight.
