Micah Goodin resigns as Deputy Mayor

By Aaron Humes: Multiple media sources have confirmed that Deputy Mayor of Belize City, Micah Goodin, has handed in his letter of resignation.

We have sought official confirmation from Mayor Bernard Wagner.

Goodin was elected from among his fellow councilors to the post in March, succeeding Allan Pollard.

After Goodin was in a vehicle that got caught up in a shoot-out in the Newtown Barracks area that left one person injured and the Commissioner of Police investigating activity with his firearm, a unanimous motion at a caucus meeting two weeks ago asked that Goodin either resign or face removal by the caucus.

After obtaining a few days’ extension it appears Goodin has taken the option of resigning.

We await word from City Hall as to the plan to fill the now vacant position.
