By Aaron Humes: Leader of the Opposition United Democratic Party Moses “Shyne” Barrow has clarified that his position as stated to us on diplomatic relations with Cuba and Venezuela among others is his own and the party has yet to meet to shape consensus on this issue.
He remains adamant, however, that as he told reporters today, he has issues with how each country treats its citizens and that as a champion of democracy, Belize should promote democratic principles and try to nudge these countries closer to our side.
Barrow maintains that regardless of the scholarships, oil purchases, and other support each country gives us, Belize should not be giving them a pass on matters of human rights and democracy.
