By BBN Staff: Three Belizeans, one of whom is a female police officer, and a Mexican national were arraigned in court today on a number of charges including possession of illegal guns, ammunition and drugs.

They are Mexican national, Misael Contreras Varela, 21, along with Belizean nationals, police officer Stephanie Marie Patten Cima, 24; Joshua Brandon Halñ, 24; and Alden Lara, 22.

Prosecutor Alifa Elrington informed the court that she will serve notice to the court in 14 days whether or not the accused will be read summary or indictable charges.

No plea was taken from the group and they were all remanded to the Belize Central Prison until August 9.

Attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley represented Cima, but also stood in for his colleague Leroy Banner, who is representing the other three accused but was unable to make it to court.

Police made the bust at Cima’s home in Orange Walk on Tuesday morning, where they found an assortment of guns, ammunition, three bullet proof vests and over nine grams of cocaine.
