By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology (MoECST) officially inaugurated a new substitution school building for the Crooked Tree Government Preschool in the Belize District on Thursday.

MoECST Communications and Public Relations Officer Kevin Chen said the old building housing the preschool was demolished and replaced with the new one-story ferroconcrete building which was constructed in partnership with the Belize Social Investment Fund.

“The new building … houses an open classroom space measuring 1,840 square feet, a fully furnished kitchenette, a male and female bathroom block, and a storage room,” said a press release by the Government of Belize Press Office.

“The building is complemented with a fully accessible ramp for persons with disabilities, an outdoor playground, and a security fence that encircles the compound. As part of the project, provisions were also made for tables and chairs, along with toys and equipment.”

The new preschool building has a maximum student capacity of 40 students.

The Press Office said the Crooked Tree Government Preschool project is valued at BZ$545,000.00. The Caribbean Development Bank contributed BZ$517,750.00, the Government of Belize gave BZ$22,250.00, and the Crooked Tree Government School community put up BZ$5,000.00.
