By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The U.S. Southern Command (SouthCom) facilitated the refurbishment of 2 barracks for the Belize Defence Force.
The funding was provided as part of the Tradewinds 2022 exercise-related construction.
The head of the U.S. Embassy Security Cooperation Office, Major Jason Booth joined BDF Commander General Asariel Loria at the BDF Price Barracks today to mark the official U.S. Government donation.
The buildings will provide quality lodging for up to 66 soldiers and facilitate the deployment of troops working to defend the security of the Belizean people.
“#WeStandWithBelize shoulder-to-shoulder on a platform of shared democratic values,” the U.S. Embassy said on their Facebook page.
The U.S. Department of Defense and the Belize Defence Force have worked together to confront transnational security threats, strengthen disaster response readiness and enhance Coast Guard operations to confront narcotrafficking.
