By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belizean Joas Mejia won silver in the triple jump at the U-20 Central American Athletics Championships. Mejia captured silver with a triple jump of 14.10m.
The gold medallist is Fernando Reyes of El Salvador who jumped 14.59m. Costa Rica’s Ronald Pérez jumped 13.46m for bronze.
With Mejía’s silver Belize now has four medals at the Central American championships, one in the U-18 and three in the U-20.
Mia Sylvester got gold in the U-20 shot put and discus while Kirk Elrington got gold in the U18 triple jump.
Eleven Belizean athletes are competing in the XXIX U-18 and XXIV U-20 Central American Athletics Championships in Managua. The games conclude on Sunday.
