By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reports that disorganized showers and thunderstorms located over the northwestern Caribbean Sea associated with a trough of low pressure will throw heavy rains over Honduras, Belize, northern Guatemala, and southeastern Mexico over the weekend.
The NHC notes that slow development of this system is possible before it moves inland over northern Central America and the Yucatan Peninsula tonight or on Saturday.
The National Meteorological Service of Belize warns that a small craft warning is in effect for gusty winds and rough seas, especially near heavy showers and thunderstorms.
A flood watch remains in effect for the possibility of flooding over low-lying and flood-prone areas of the country during the next couple of days.
