By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize won gold and bronze in the 110m hurdles 0.91 at U-18 Central American Athletics Championships in Managua, Nicaragua on Saturday morning.
Glenford Williams won the gold medal in 14.91 seconds while Rupert Cardinez captured the bronze medal in 16.23 seconds. El Salvador’s Jorge Luis Montano got silver in 16.13.
On Friday evening Williams won silver in the 100m clocking 11.28 seconds.
With these two medals Belize now has four gold and three silver.
Earlier on Saturday, Williams qualified for the 200m final which is scheduled for 5:00 pm. He clocked 23.22 seconds in the semifinals on Saturday morning. That was the fourth best time. Costa Rican Dominik Darbey, who won bronze in the 100m, qualified with the best time.
In July 2021, Williams won both the 100m and the 110m hurdle 0.91 at the U18 Central American Championships.
