They’ve become very valuable, but you might want to check with the Government first.
This week, in a statement, the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Management said it “has become aware of companies purporting to sell Carbon Credits. Kindly note that the Government of Belize has not authorized or sanctioned these transactions. All such transactions must be authorized by the Government of Belize.”
The statement adds, “The sale of carbon credits from Belize’s jurisdiction affects the national carbon budget/quota and our reporting requirements to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) inclusive of Belize’s National Determined Contributions (NDCs) commitments.” It invites those wishing to engage in the sale of Carbon Credits to contact the National Climate Change Office to undergo a review and approval process.
