By BBN Staff: Nineteen-year-old Joshua Swazo has been charged with the attempted murder of Bartholomew Lucas, following a shooting incident that occurred last month.
Swazo appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Friday, charged with a single count of attempted murder, along with one count each of use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm.
Due to the nature of the offense, bail was denied and Swazo was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until August 15.
Lucas was shot on the morning of May 12. Police say that he was headed in the direction of Fairweather Street around 7:25 a.m. when someone rode past on a bicycle and fired shots at him. Lucas was hit to the left thigh and was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and subsequently released.
