Opposition Leader visits flooded areas in Orange Walk District

By Aaron Humes: According to Leader of the Opposition Moses “Shyne” Barrow, flood waters in the Orange Walk area have receded enough for the moment to allow those evacuated last night to return home.

Earlier today he was in Tower Hill with its chairman candidate who was helping villagers dig drains to alleviate flooding. He also visited the most affected areas with the UDP-affiliated chairman of San Jose, Orange Walk.

Barrow called on the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing “to do flood mitigation urgently in these villages with the digging of drains and installation of culverts to resolve this prevailing problem.

The area will continue to be affected by rain for the next two to three days.
