Iconic floating Jumbo restaurant in Hong Kong sinks in the South China Sea

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The iconic floating Jumbo restaurant, a landmark in the nation sunk just days after it was towed away from the harbor.

The restaurant had operated for almost 50 years.

Aberdeen Restaurant Enterprises, its parent company said that the restaurant capsized in the South China Sea while on its way to an undisclosed location. Fortunately, no crew members were injured.

The restaurant had closed in March 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Many famous guests are believed to have enjoyed the ambiance at the restaurant.

The restaurant had also been featured in several films but the economic blow brought by the pandemic hit the business really hard.
