Jovi Hernandez walks from murder charge

By BBN Staff: A man is free of the charge of murder after his case ended in nolle prosequi (legal notice that the prosecution has decided to abandon the case) in the Supreme Court this week before Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft.

Twenty-one-year-old, Jovi Hernandez who was initially charged for the 2019 murder of Nixon Pinto, left the court a free man on Monday.

Pinto was stabbed to death at the Lord Ridge Cemetery on July 17, 2019, during a fight with Hernandez; however, the crown’s key witness, who was reportedly at the bus stop waiting for a ride when the incident occurred, could not be located.

The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is hopeful that it will obtain sufficient evidence to revisit the charge in the future.
